Splashfur's Sneak OUT!!! (6 moons ago)

She could hear the other apprentice's breathing in harmony and the moon was just starting to rise. Her one eye opened to peer and scan the den for anyone still alert.

"Good no one is awake....I hope this works!" splashfur comforted her self.

She slowly eased up from her patch of green leaves. Stretching in the process and trying to get the kinks out of her joints. Her paw pads barely touched the ground as she stalked out of the apprentice den. Greenleaf was splashfur's favorite time to sneak out of the camp to visit her sister Oakstar.

Oakstar had left Stormcloud in charge of the camp, just in case Flamewhisker needed help. Everything will be fine. Besides, I haven't see Splashfur in ages. She assured herself. But as she padded along she couldn't shake the feeling that something was going to go wrong.

Icepaw was stalking behind her Mother, being careful to avoid detection. This was a skill that Icepaw excelled at thanks to all of her sneak-outs as a kit. Where is she going? She wondered. It was a miracle that Icepaw had gotten out of camp alone, between Starpaw who seemed to always know what she was up to, Redpaw who always wanted to tag along, Featherpaw who always wanted to spoil her fun and Oceanpaw who barely left her side. And then there was Snowpaw. Sneaking past him was the biggest part of the miracle.

Oakstar came to the border. Okay, this is where I have to draw the line. I can't cross the border, I'm a leader now. She told herself. This was her first meeting with her sister since she had become leader of Thunderclan. I guess I'll just have to wait for her. She concluded with a flicker of frustration.

It seemed as if this short journey took forever as Splashfur rooted her way to the border of both clans. She could hear the bubbling of the river as she approached. Across the river she could see Oakstar sitting with frustration. "How long has she been waiting?" worried Splashfur.

Splashfur took a running start and leaped as high as she could. One flip in the air made her jump longer. She could see the bank on the other side of the river coming in close and Splashfur extended her paws ready for landing. As her front paws touched the other bank she rolled into a crouching position.

"Sorry to keep you waiting Sis....It's just that journey seemed to take forever!" Splashfur huffed as she cached her breath from the miraculous jump. "I never realized how much BIGGER I was than my sister. Maybe I should have became a leader. Ah well...I love where I am...Learning to be a medicine cat."Splashfur thought as she got her composure together quickly so she could chat with her younger sister Oakstar.

"It's fine." Oakstar assured her sister. "I would have crossed the border to meet you, but I can't do that." She added with a smile. What would it be like being in the same clan as Splashfur? Where would she fit in in Thunderclan? Where would I be in Riverclan? The questions raced through Oakstar's mind. Such was the mind of a curious cat like the Thunderclan leader's. "So how have things been?"

Icepaw watched and listened from the bushes. Who is this cat? Why is Mom talking to her? She wondered.

"That's Splashfur, the Riverclan Medicine Cat Apprentice." A voice mewed softly from behind Icepaw.

Icepaw turned with a start. "Snowpaw! What are you doing here?!" She hissed.

"I could ask you the same thing!" Snowpaw retorted. "Now be quiet before we get caught."

Oakstar's ears twitched as she heard voices behind her. "Do you hear that?" She asked her sister. Probably not. My hearing has always been a bit above average.

"I've missed you dearly little sis! Things are going great. I am so proud to be the medicine cat apprentice! Are you disappointed by my decision to not be the next Riverclan leader?" Splashfur kept rumbling on. She couldn't get the words out fast enough!!

"I think you were followed little Sis!" Splashfur whispered!

"Should we continue this another time!?!?!" worried Splashfur. Her nervousness of the whole night was trembling though her body. Still, Splashfur was purring for it has been too long since she has seen Oakstar. She forgot how beautiful and mature her little sister had gotten.

"I think that would be best." Oakstar admitted after a moment of inner conflict. She was frustrated that her first meeting with her sister in awhile was being interrupted. And if it's Icepaw I can't even punish her. I'm going to have to ask her not to tell anyone. "I think it's my daughter."

"Now look what you've done!" Icepaw hissed. "We're caught!"

"And that's my fault?" Snowpaw asked. "You could have been hurt out here on your own."

"I was following Oakstar, what could have happened?"

"You need to be care-"

"You two do know that I can hear you, right?" Oakstar mewed, turning to face the two snow-white apprentices.

"WHOA!!!! wait a minute........You have a daughter?" Splashfur said in shock.

"I cant believe it has been that long Sis....I feel horrible...." she sighed. Splashfur looked towards where Oakstar was looking.

"Can I meet her?"questioned Splashfur to Oakstar.

"I wonder if she is a lot like Oakstar" thought Splashfur. She gazed harder into the woods where Oakstar stared. She wondered how old her daughter was and when Oakstar had her kits. Splashfur's eye began to water...."I wish I could have kits.....I am in love.....and the prophecy....". She looked at her sister waiting for the answer to meet her daughter. The tensions grew and Splashfur wanted to meet her daughter more that ever!

Well, Icepaw has already seen Splashfur, so I guess it's too late now. Oakstar thought. "Sure." She mewed. "Icepaw, Snowpaw, come on out."

Great, now we're dead. I'll be spending so much time in the Elder's Den that I might as well move in! Icepaw thought as she padded out to stand by her mother. But why is Mom talking to the Riverclan Medicine Cat Apprentice?

There's something going on here, but what? And did I hear Splashfur call Oakstar 'sis'? Snowpaw pondered as he stood by his best friend.

"This is Icepaw." Oakstar introduced, placing her tail on Icepaw's head. "And this is Snowpaw, but you might have met him already. He's the Medicine Cat Apprentice of our clan. He's not my kit though." She explained. "My other kits are back at camp, where they should be." She mewed pointedly.

"Nice to meet you Icepaw. I am you mothers older sister. You don't look like your mom but I was sure that you would!" Splashfur exhaled. Looking at the her sister and her daughter brought tears to her eyes.

"I am sorry.......I just ...................missed so much" wept Splashfur. She turned to wipe her tears from her eyes. Splashfur paws were soaked by the time she was done. she turned back around to face her sister with a smile that kept growing. Splashfur could not keep from staring in amazement at her sister and how much she grew up in that short time that seemed like an eternity.

"Hello Snowpaw sorry you had to see that. How is your training going?" asked Splashfur.

"Yeah, she looks more like Stormcloud than me. She doesn't even look that much like him." Oakstar agreed. Actually, she and Oceanpaw look more like Snowpaw than anyone else in the clan. Interesting... "It's weird, none of my kits really look like me. Featherpaw is a gray tabby with lavender eyes, Redpaw is a deep red color with matching eyes, Starpaw is pitch black with light blue eyes and Oceanpaw is identical to Icepaw except she has mint green eyes." She added.

"Yeah, but we all have your long fur, except Starpaw's is the shortest." Icepaw commented.

Snowpaw was still wondering what was going on, but he decided to act casual. "It's going well, I just started and I already know a lot of herbs thanks to this little danger magnet." He answered, nudging his best friend.

"Hey! I'm not any littler than you!" Icepaw protested.

Splashfur smiled with tears still in her eyes. "Well I guess this is not so much a secret meeting anymore..." joked Splashfur.

"I guess I should let you all get back to your camp before anyone notices you all have left. I miss you dearly little sister." Splashfur sighed.

Splashfur stepped closer to her sister trying to hold back the tears. She bent down to nudged her head against Oakstar's shoulder and wrapped paw around the other shoulder. The hug could not be tight enough....then she backed away to touch noses one last time.

"I think for both our clans we should only talk at Fourtrees meetings. You have a big responsibility that I'm taken you away from. I love you SIS but your all grown up now. You don't need me around as much as you did. Plus you know in the near future our prophecy will come true and then we can see each other all the time." cried Splashfur. She didn't think this would be so hard to do, to cut herself off from her only sister and best friend. Splashfur looked at her daughter "Icepaw it was AWESOME to meet you. And I know she's your mom but She ALWAYS knows best." Laughed Splashfur. She backed up and dipped her head towards Snowpaw. "See you at the next meeting as well Snowpaw. I apologize once again TO ALL OF YOU for my emotional behavior....." Admitted Splashfur.

"Well time for me to sneak back as well..................May the Silverpelt watch over all of you!" Splashfur wept.

She turned and prepared herself for the jump back across the river.

"Good bye Splashfur." Oakstar mewed. The reality hadn't really sunk in yet. It would though, probably tonight. She break down and Stormcloud would have to put her back together again. Splashfur's words about knowing her daughter best rang in her ears. Will I? It seems that Snowpaw already seems to have taken up the position of her guardian, just like Stormcloud did for me. Though their story can't end the same, Snowpaw will be a medicine cat, or can it?

"Come on, we have to go back to camp now." Oakstar instructed gently. The three Thunderclan cats started padding back to camp.

"I'd really appreciate it if you didn't share with anyone what you saw." The leader requested.

"Of course not Mom."

"Sure Oakstar." Snowpaw promised.

"Not even your siblings, even Oceanpaw." Oakstar mewed to her daughter.

"Okay."
