After seeing the apprentices work so hard to fight off the fox, Ashstar knew something had to be done. She would have to announce to the clan about the fox, and to mention the three brave apprentices. They would be recieving their mentors today, they deserved it. The she-cat jumped onto the Highrock, wincing at the cut on her back. The bleeding had stopped, and the gash had clumped together, but with the jump she had just reopened the wound. She couldn't worry about that now, though. With a sigh and then a shaking of the thoughts from her mind the leader opened her mouth and began the summonings of the clan. "All those old enough to catch their own prey come and join me under the Highrock for a Clan meeting." she said, making sure to be clear and loud.
Frostwind had finally drug himself back into camp. He had thrown the fox in the river, since he really didn't want to get his paws all muddy, and it would take too long to dig a grave. It didn't deserve such a proper burial anyways. He was about to go back into the warriors den for a nap when he heard Ashstar. What did his sister want? The white warrior yawned then padded closer. Maybe she would make it quick so he could sleep.

Icecloud padded out of her den. Her scent was heavy with herbs and she wore the expression of one who had been pondering something that was best kept secret for hours on end. She sat down under the Highrock, tucked her tail around her white paws, and glanced quickly at the warriors' den before turning her attention back to Ashstar. She was surprised that only Whitestone had come to see her about his wounds. Either the others managed to escape unscathed--an unlikely thing, considering that three of them were apprentices--or they have too much pride to see their medicine cat to get her to stop the bleeding. Hmph! She had not caught even a glimpse of the apprentices since they returned from their close encounter, and wouldn't be surprised if they resembled ragged scraps of fur more than they looked like cats.

Applepaw joined the other cats beneath the High Rock. She was trembling with enthusiasm. "I think this is it guys!" She whispered to her friends.
Ivypaw sat beside her sister. "Maybe." was her only answer.
Lotuspaw sat next to Ivypaw. He was just glad the whole ordeal with the fox was over. He hadn't even heard Applepaw's whispered comment.

Seeing that most of the clan was gathered, Ashstar began the meeting. "As most of you know there was a fox on our territory today. I would like to commend Whitestone, Frostwind, and our three apprentices on the victory over the fox. Thankfully it did not make it to camp, and no one is too badly injured." she began, looking at the cats in the camp. "I would also like to take this time to give Lotuspaw, Applepaw, and Ivypaw their mentors. With all the crazyness around camp lately, I have not had time to properly assign them mentors, and it is time they are true apprentices. They all fought bravely today, and proved not only to me, but to everyone that they will make fine warriors in the near future." Glancing to the three apprentices she smiled. "If you three wouldn't mind stepping forward, I would like to give you your mentors, which you deserve more than ever." she meowed.

The three apprentices stepped forward. So Applepaw was right, this was it! They were getting there mentors. I'm so excited! Ivypaw thought, trying not to look too hyper.
Lotuspaw was just as excited as his friends. The experience with the fox had started him thinking. I want to be the best warrior I can be. That way I can defend the clan....and Ivypaw.
Applepaw was overjoyed. She couldn't contain her excitement. Come on! Stay calm! I must look ridiculous! She told herself.

Whitestone stretched in his nest in the warrior den, hearing the yowl of his leader, Ashstar, and new mate. Whitestone couldn't help but grin at it all. It had happened so quickly, and he was proud of making it out of the fox alive and well, so he could be with the one he loved, until he joined StarClan, which hopefully wouldn't happen anytime soon. He slunk out of the den, taking his place near the Highrock. Mistypool blinked her clouded eyes open at the sound of her leader. That was the best sleep I've had in ages! What does Ashstar want now? The marbled silver she-cat flexed her claws for a moment, then rising to her paws, padding out of the warrior den, and taking her place by the Highrock.

Splashfur sat next to her mentor....
"Icecloud may I ask what is on your mind?" she whispered softly.
Splashfur was worried....the feeling in the camp was unsteady yet calm.

Ashstar couldn't help but smile as she noticed how excited the apprentices looked. They all deserved this. They really did.
"I know that StarClan is proud of each one of you after the battle with the fox today. Lotuspaw from now on your mentor will be Mistypool." she said, looking at the tom. Her eyes drifted to Ivypaw. "Ivypaw you will be mentored by Whitestone." Just saying his name made the she-cat's fur tingle. Her glance was shifted to the tom, and she had to shake her mind from all thoughts, almost forgetting the last apprentice. She could always talk to Whitestone later. "And finally, Applepaw your new mentor will be Frostwind." she meowed glancing at her brother, who was to no surprise, yawning. "If you can manage to wake him up." she muttered.
"Does anyone else have anything else to add?" Ashstar asked, glancing around.

Whitestone looked up at Ashstar, whiskers twitching. There was so much he wanted to tell the Clan, so much he wanted to say, but he wanted to keep it a secret for now. Maybe he'd tell them all later, or let Ashstar to it. He smiled over at Ivypaw, wincing as he limped over towards her. With luck, his shoulder would heal, and he wouldn't be limping around like an elder.

"I'm surprised that they made it out in one piece," Icecloud whispered back to Splashfur. "Fox attacks generally cause really bad injuries, if not death. There was one about five seasons ago. Four warriors were sent to fight it. Out of the three who came back alive, one died of an infected wound and one was forced to retire. I was a very young medicine cat then. It was terrifying to see all of that. Either we had a really strong patrol or a really weak fox." She pursed her lips and watched Ashstar for a moment before turning back to her apprentice.

Slpashfur's eyes widened and her mouth started to gape open. "I assume our patrol was very strong" wheezed out Spalshfur in shock. "I don't want to see what you saw back then.........It's so tragic!" she whispered to Icecloud and shivered at the thought of loosing anyone in Riverclan.
Splashfur looked up at Ashstar to see if she had anything else to say. Bloody images rushed through Splashfur's head. Should could not stop her imagination form showing Splashfur the horror her mentor went though. Splashfur began to hang her head while her claws started digging into the frozen ground. Wetness began to soak the fur around Splashfur's oddly colored eyes. She could not help but feel the pain of fallen warriors and the agony they went through to protect Riverclan. Her head began to rise and look in the direction of Frostwind "Will Frostwind be ok....Icecloud?" Splashfur boldly asked her mentor. "I want to make him better that he was before the fox attack!" Admitted splashfur as she looked up to Icecloud.

Ashstar jumped down from the rock, signaling the meeting to be over with. She looked over to the medicine cat and her apprentice, and sighed. Maybe she should get the cut in her back looked at. No, she would do that later. Right now she needed to speak with her brother.
Frostwind blinked sleepily and touched noses with his new apprentice. His sister had given him of all cats an apprentice? Didn't she know that he liked to sleep in? Oh well, maybe Applepaw would learn fast. Seeing Ashstar glaring at him, he figured it meant she wanted a word with him, he nodded to his new apprentice then joined his sister under the rock. "You glared?" he asked with a small smirk. He didn't think of Ashstar as a leader, it was just too hard to think that his little sister was the clan leader.
Ashstar let out a chuckle. Frostwind never learned, but that is exactly how she liked him. It gave her a good word-sparring partner. "I just wanted to know what you did with the fox. Let me know then you can go back to your nap." she said amused.
Frostwind sighed. "I threw it into the river. I thought it would be better for it so that we wouldn't have to even think about the thing anymore."
Ashstar nodded, she was a bit distracted, her gaze was looking at Whitestone. The tom had been hurt, and it was all her fault. She had completely frozen at the sight of the fox. "Do you think that is the same fox that killed our parents?" she asked in almost a whisper.
Frostwind shrugged. "It could be, but you have to stop thinking about that." He nudged his sister and gave her a lick on the head. "It wasn't your fault they died, it wasn't either of our faults." he murmered, trying to reassure her. He saw her gaze to Whitestone and smiled. "So, what's up with Whitestone?" he questioned.
Ashstar sighed and nodded. "Your right. I guess I should just go get some rest." she muttered. She ignored her brothers question about Whitestone, she didn't want Frostwind's input on her relationship with the other tom. She knew he would be jealous, and think she was mouse-brained. Let him find out later.
Frostwind knew Ashstar was avoiding his question, but he didn't care. "If you need me, I'll be asleep. Don't need me." he grumbled and padded to the warriors den, laying down in his nest and falling asleep.
Ashstar watched her brother leave, and then turned her attention back to Whitestone. Just looking at the tom made her feel better, like she could face another fox, and not be scared about it.
