Lionpaw wandered around the clearing for a moment, looking for Stormcloud. Nightpaw trailed behind him, looking for her mentor too. This'll be fun. We can train together, and that way– Lionpaw was continuing to imagine being a strong warrior, and bumped into a few cats once or twice while padding around.

Stormcloud felt a small cat bump into him. He turned to see Lionpaw, followed by his sister Nightpaw. Well, I should get to know these guys before I try to train them. He decided. Mentoring had always been one of Stormcloud's favorite parts of being a warrior. Even though he was young, he had still had some apprentices. "Hello there." He greeted with an easygoing smile.

Shadowstream watched the apprentice's ear twitch. She knew that twitch, her sister had done the same thing when she was irritated. "You know, if you have something to say, I don't mind you saying it. I don't care if you think it may sound dumb, mean, or anything, just say what is on your mind." she murmered.
Watching Redpaw she rolled her eyes. "You do realize that a hunting crouch wouldn't be the best bet in sneaking up on a cat, correct?" She asked the other apprentice, trying to stifle a laugh.
Turning her attention back to Starpaw with his sigh. "But I'm guessing that you had already figured that out. Your brother could learn several things from you." Shadowstream said to her apprentice.

"Hello Stormcloud," Lionpaw mewed. "I'm really excited to begin my training with you and Nightpaw. Do you really think I can become a warrior? Like you?" His voice changed from excitement to a question, since he wasn't entirely sure he could be a real warrior – it seemed like a fantasy of some sort to him. The golden brown tom turned around for a moment, noticing how Nightpaw remained silent. How can she be so quiet like that? Isn't she excited, too?

Redpaw slumped as he heard Shadowstream's comment and stifled laugh. He was about to say something when Featherpaw called him. He padded away with his tail dropping slightly.
Starpaw shook his head. "He's always trying to sneak up on me." He mewed. "He'd be better off facing me head on since he has more brute strength and he obviously isn't going to maintain the element of surprise." He filed what his mentor said about speaking his mind in the back of his head for later. It wasn't the first time someone had said that to him, but he had this slight feeling that Shadowstream was different that other cats, that maybe she'd understand him....No! I can't get my hopes up. He told himself. Nobody will understand me...
Stormcloud couldn't help but chuckle at Lionpaw's relentless questions. "Well, I think you'll make a fine warrior," He mewed. "But only time will tell." He noted that Lionpaw was extremely outgoing, eager and a little unsure of himself. He hadn't heard Nightpaw say a word yet. "What about you Nightpaw? Anything I should know about you?" He asked. He didn't want to seem pushy because that could drive her away.

Nightpaw looked up, surprised her new mentor had noticed her. She looked around for her sister Sootpaw, but then decided to reply to Stormcloud. "I…I'm super excited to start training with you, Stormcloud. I really want to become a warrior, like you. Do you think I can be a warrior too?" I should be thankful I made it even this far. she thought.

"Of course." Stormcloud assured her. "You'll be a very different warrior from your brother, because every warrior is unique." He told her. "If there's one thing I've learned in my moons of training, it's that every warrior is different and they have their own strengths and weaknesses. It's no use comparing one warrior to another because each cat has their own standards and capabilities."
Oakstar padded up to stand next to her mate. She flicked his ear with her tail. "Don't give them a headache already." She mewed jokingly. "But he's right, you'll both be great warriors."

"Well it seems you know how to analyze a cat quickly." Shadowstream murmered, quite impressed. "That will help you out more than you know." she added.
"Trying and obviously failing more times than succeeding." she commented. "I guess I should mention that I tend to speak my mind, and I don't give a rip what everyone else thinks."
Shadowstream gave her fur a quick lick before continuing. "So, would you like to go ahead and start training now, or would you prefer to wait until tomorrow?"

It was that moment that a layer of Starpaw's facade melted away. If she's going to check all formalities out the window, so will I. "I'm ready when you are." He was determined to show now weakness whatsoever.

Shadowstream smiled slightly, maybe she could get along with this apprentice. But then again, it would bring up memories of her sister. Could she really bare to remember that? Snapping out of the fantasy, she thought about what they should do. "Well I guess we can start out by letting you know the borders, and what better way than to show you. Before we begin our little tour, I would like to take you somewhere. It's a place that has many memories for me. I think it might help you understand my background better." she sighed. Might as well show him this now, and get it over with. It wasn't going to get any easier. "Ready?" she asked.

"Yep." Starpaw answered. Yep?Since when do I say yep? He asked himself. He felt as if he was changing a bit, like he was somehow connecting to Shadowstream.

"Well then, let's go." Shadowstream said, beginning their journey to the one place she was dreading. Better now than later, though. "I haven't shown this place to another cat before, so you will be the first. I know others know about it, I just don't think they care." she said looking over her shoulder. "And if you have trouble keeping up, please let me know." the she-cat added. Shadowstream didn't want Starpaw to have trouble, she tended to walk fast sometimes.

"Okay." Starpaw said. Shadowstream's words about speaking his mind echoed in his head. "Why are you showing me?" He asked, rather bluntly for him. Normally his questions were intelligent, witty, but never blunt. What in Starclan's name happening to me?!

Shadowstream smirked, it seems like her words had finally sunk into the apprentice. Good. She would rather hear someone's opinion rather than it be locked up inside their head. It could be useful.
"Because you will be the one cat who will know exactly what it means. And why I don't talk about it much. Trust me, when we get there it will make more sense."
The warrior padded throughout the forest to an area behind a huge log. She soon stopped at a little place with moss surrounding a small area of dirt. "We are here." she announced.

Starpaw let his senses run wild, detecting everything. He could only do this when he was either alone or only with one other cat, otherwise he'd become extremely overwhelmed and pass out. He had found that out the hard way. He could smell the dirt, sense where Shadowstream was standing, hear her heartbeat faintly. He took in everything, every smell, every sound and every vibration.
